Charlene Chua hasn’t always been an illustrator; she got her start working in web design and interaction. Originally from Singapore but now based in Toronto, she dove into illustration ten years ago and seems to have gone from strength to strength.
Her client list is as large as it is varied; she’s done work for Google, Tully’s Coffee, and National Geographic to name a few, but has also lent her illustrative hand to educational projects for Pearson Education, as well as children’s picture books. Her portfolio is full of colourful work with subtle use of texture to create depth and movement; each piece is different, and reflects her client and their ethos.
Furthermore, not content with just the digital realm, Chua also works with ink and watercolour, using earth tones and soft textures on a range of topics but with a focus on birds. We can’t wait to see what she tries her hand at next.
